Sheridan made it to work early, which surprised her since she’d wiped herself out dancing the previous night. Another thing that surprised her was that she woke up before the alarm that morning, a happy smile on her face even though it was plastered to Pharaoh’s butt. She pushed the dog away with a chuckle and whistled her way into the shower. She was in a good mood and didn’t question its origin—she just went with it.

She took off her hard hat and sat down on a stepladder to drink her coffee. She took off the top and blew on the hot liquid. Speaking of blowing...Sheridan felt bad for blowing off the chick in the donut shop, but she had a girlfriend now and shouldn’t be flirting with every hot woman that crossed her path. Even if she had fucked them. No big deal. She ain’t got nuthin’ on Keefer anyway, she though with a grin. It was with that thought that Bobby came stumbling up the steps.

“Hey, Patch,” he said wearily, tossing his hard hat at her feet.

She looked at the yellow hat and chuckled. “Maria keeping you up all night?”

Bobby pulled up an overturned bucket and sat down next to her, opening a huge thermos of coffee. “Morning sickness will do that to ya,” he said, looking for a reaction out of the corner of his eye.

“That’s too bad...What?” Sheridan jumped up. “Maria’s pregnant? Congratulations!” she yelled, smacking him on the shoulder, a sore and tired shoulder.

“Ow.” He rubbed the spot and smiled weakly.

“Hey, isn’t morning sickness supposed to be in the morning?” she asked, sipping her coffee carefully.

“That’s what I thought. It sucks, Patch. By the way, I would have told you yesterday, but you were out. What’s up?”

“I had things to do,” she said, turning her head and refusing to make eye contact.

“Things?” he asked, wondering why she was acting that way.

“Yeah. So boy or girl?” she asked, changing the subject.

“Dunno, we want it to be a surprise.”

Sheridan snickered and gave him a sideways look, then snickered again.

“What?” he asked in confusion.

“You made a baby.” She laughed outright.

“And this is funny because....”

“I keep picturing you doing it.” She had to put her coffee down so she wouldn’t spill it as she laughed.

“That’s right, yuck it up,” he said, offended.

“Oh, please, I probably look just as stupid when I do it.” She got up, presented him with her ass, and made humping gestures.

“Yeah, but I’d rather watch you do it than me,” he, said, earning him a smack to the back of the head.

Phil and Tony arrived together at that moment and both of them laughed.

“What, it’s only ten of nine and already he’s on your nerves?” Phil said, making his way over.

“Was it really bad? Can I hit him too?” Tony asked with a little too much excitement.

“Nah, I got it under control.” Sheridan grinned, smacking Bobby again for good measure.

“You okay, Patch?” Phil asked seriously.

“Yeah, why?” she asked in confusion, giving herself the once-over.

“Thought you were sick or something.
